Frequently Asked Questions

  • I don’t accept insurance directly at this time. If you have a PPO or POS plan, I can provide you with a superbill for possible reimbursement for a portion of the cost you pay for your services. If you are looking for online couples therapy, you will want to confirm that your insurance will reimburse for CPT code: 90847 95. Keep in mind, in most cases, insurance companies will not reimburse extended (90-minute) sessions and will only cover the first hour.

Alternatively, I can accept HSA/FSA cards. If you choose to use an HSA/FSA card, I will need an additional credit card on file for any late cancellations.

  • Yes! My new office will be based in Tustin, CA upon my return to work on June 17th, 2024.

  • I only have daytime slots (Monday through Friday) at this time.

  • This is not my preferred or recommended way of offering online couples therapy. From my experience, it can create an additional barrier between a couple that can prevent partners from letting their guard down. That said, I do offer this as an option when a couple can’t possibly be in the same location at the same time.

  • If your marriage is on the brink, but your partner is not ready for discernment counseling, I can help. Please note: This type of individual relationship counseling (or discernment counseling for one) requires a deep dive into your own contributions to the challenges in your relationship and ways in which you can access your own agency for change.

  • I’m all for it if it’s right for your relationship and everyone involved is on board. These types of relationships require a lot of trust, open communication, and transparency. Couples therapy can be a helpful space to dig into some of the difficult questions that are needed to have a truly honest conversation with each other about polyamory, non-monogamy, and open relationships. Please note: I don’t consider this a specialty of mine and there are other practices in California who specifically cater to non-monogamous relationships.

  • Sessions are typically 50 to 60 minutes or 80 to 90 minutes on a weekly basis to start. Once significant progress has been made, sessions are often spaced out to biweekly or monthly.

  • If you go through Discernment Counseling (which is 5 sessions max) and then decide to continue with Couples Therapy, I ask you to commit to at least 6 months of giving your full effort to working on your relationship (whether that’s with me or someone/something else). This amount of time allows for the inevitable missed sessions due to holidays, illnesses, and unforeseen circumstances and should be enough time to know if progress is possible.

If you’re not in a state of crisis in which you’re considering divorce, you may need less time. In either case, you should start to see progress and momentum in the therapy within the first 3 to 5 couples therapy sessions.

The length of time ultimately depends on each couples’ presenting issues and goals for therapy.

  • I have a 48-hour cancellation policy, which allows more advanced notice for another client who may need your time slot.

If any unforeseen circumstances arise (e.g. you start to feel sick) 48 hours before our session, I encourage you to reach out to me to cancel or reschedule for later in the week.

This will ensure that you avoid having to pay the late cancellation or no-show fee (which is the full session rate) for a session you weren’t able to attend.
